Nike’s decision to take out a Super Bowl advert for the first time in 27 years was always going to draw attention. Doing so and putting women exclusively at the forefront, well, that turned heads.

Nike are the best in the business when it comes to their marketing. They release almost immediate ads after big results for their most valued talent, with witty copywriting and powerful imagery to match. It’s no surprise they hit the nail on the head with this one too.

“Whatever you do, you can’t win. So win.”

The one-minute clip captures the feeling women athletes are laden with all-too-often — that, no matter what, they will never achieve enough, do enough or be enough to please everyone. The slogan hit that sweet spot between being simple enough to make complete sense to viewers, while also sparking some conversation too. (It also got me nodding my head in agreement as I watched).
